Silver Trash Can

At our assembly yesterday we won the Silver Trash Can Award this is an award that is given out monthly at our assemblies.

If you are wondering why we won the Silver Trash Can here are a few reasons that we could think of:

Because we put our boots nice in the hallway. ~Mohammed

Because our room was the cleanest! ~Cheyenne

Because Mrs. Taylor helped clean the classroom up after us!. ~Precious

Because we had the cleanest classroom in the school. ~Seth

Because Mrs. Taylor kept her desk clean! ~Taylor

We also want to congratulate Devon for receiving the Outstanding Achievement award for the month of April for all his hard work he has been doing on reading.

Keep up the great work room 10!

Here is what our Silver Trash Can looks like!

Colour Day!

Today was colour day at school.  We all came to school today wearing our favourite colour.  This morning we made a graph of our favorite colours.  Blue was the favourtie colour of our class, purple came in second, and red and black tied for third place.  Each classroom also made a graph of their favorite colours, and the grade 2 students gathered all the information to find the favourite colour of the whole school.  The favourite colour of the whole school was also blue!!

What is your favourite colour?  Is it also blue?
Here is our graph.

Flat Stanley What If...

We have been reading Flat Stanley books in class.  Today we talked about that it would be like if we were flat like Stanley.  Here are what some of us thought:

"It would be fun to flat!"
"I would want to be flat so I could slip under the door!"
"It would be cool to used as a sail on a boat, it would be bad because you can't eat too much!"
"It would be fun because I can go down the sewer!"
"It would be cool to be flat so we can go under cars!"

What do you think it would be like to be flat?

Warm and Cool Colours

We have been talking about warm and cool colours in art class.  Warm colours are red, orange, and yellow.  Cool colours are blue, purple, and green.  We made a mural together as a class and had to work in groups to help create it.  First we painted shapes and connected them together with lines, then we had to decide as a group if we wanted to paint with warm colours or cool colours.  Once we chose warm or cool colours, we had to choose a colour to paint the emtpy spaces.  Here are a few pictures of our work in progress and our finished product.

Mealworms

Yesterday we were looking at our mealworms.  We put them on black and white paper to see which colour they liked the best.  We also made ramps with paper and raced our mealworms, some of them went up and some of them went down.  Here are a few pictures of our mealworms trying to be bookworms!!

This mealworm is climbing on a book!

This one is trying to get into a book!
